Assist the Manager of Field Operations (MFO) in planning and creating the construction schedule.
Support the MFO with contractors, determining required resources, and choosing suppliers.
Supervise construction crews and ensure project completion while adhering to deadlines, construction drawings, and specifications.
Keep accurate records of material and labor costs incurred during the construction process.
Monitor the progress of the construction work and performance of subcontractors; Maintain daily log of manpower on site per trade.
Hold regularly scheduled meetings with site workers, subcontractors, and client representatives.
Convey information about the progress of the project and performance of the contractors to the MFO.
Assist the MFO in preparing reports to be submitted to Executive Team.
Represent the MFO in executive meetings if required.
Assist the MFO in the procurement of certain materials.
Assist the MFO in hiring and assigning tasks to laborers.
Ensure that the construction site is safe and free from any hazardous chemical or objects.
Maintain healthy and safe work environment by enforcing procedures and standards and complying with legal regulations.
Report accidents that occur at the construction site to the MFO.
Ensure the smooth day to day operation of work activities at the construction site.
Maintain good relationships with site workers, contractors, and suppliers.
Ensure that any change in project plan is executed by contractors.
Ensure that the project is executed in compliance with local or state regulations.
Identify any potential problem at the site and work to prevent it.
Communicate with inspectors about compliance with building codes and assist with on-site inspections at critical phases.
Provide weekly status reports to MFO.
Construction Superintendent Qualifications
High school diploma or GED required
Bachelor’s degree preferred (in business, construction management, or engineering)
Minimum of five years in the construction industry
Strong leadership skills
Excellent organization and planning skills to prioritize and balance work
Ability to lead others in the completion of a schedule, budget guidelines, and customer requirements
Great verbal and written communication skills
Valid driver’s license
Computer proficient, with experience in MS Excel, Project, and Word
